Long-Term Substitute – Vocal Music Teacher
Purpose Statement
The position of Substitute Teacher - Voal Music (Fall Semester) is responsible for providing instruction and managing classroom environments in absence of the regular teacher. Substitute teachers are required to perform all of the duties of the teacher that they are subbing for.
Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Daily Rate of Pay: $145/day (day's 1 -10) $248.33/day (day 11 - and beyond)
Reports To: Building Principal
Wage/Hour Status: Temporary/Seasonal
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Iowa State Teaching License, or
- Valid Iowa Substitute Authorization, or
- Valid Iowa Preservice Substitute Authorization
- Experience working with children, preferred
Job Goal:
To help students acquire skills in order to contribute to their development as productive and responsible citizens
Essential Functions
- Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
- Teaches lessons outlined and described in the teacher plan book.
- Consults with the building principal before initiating teaching or procedures not specified in the teacher plan book.
- Follows policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
- Follows established policies for reporting payroll information to the district office.
- Develops and maintains an effective level of communication with appropriate personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent or Principal.
Other Functions
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Directs associates, student teachers, and/or volunteers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Working Environment
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases.
