SUMMARY
Executes and monitors all logistics activities required for the timely and efficient transportation of goods. These tasks will be accomplished using 3rd party Common Carriers, an internal Transportation Management System (IT software for tendering loads as well as manual processes of emails and phones), an internal dock scheduling system, and multiple Warehouse Management Systems. Communicates with all carriers to manage and resolve open issues related to the movement of goods. Collaborates daily with the Customer to review any short lead orders, special requests or discrepancies. Monitors inbound and outbound shipping activities including, dock door activity and traffic flow. Monitors inventory levels, inventory locations and bottling line attainment to support a JIT throttling of components to production lines. Navigates systems to solve issues that create barriers to steady transportation flow.
- This is a long term temporary position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Executes daily logistics transactional tasks through efficient planning of inventory, shipments and tendering of loads to carriers using TMS systems, e-mail and phone as required.
- Executes allocation of loads and G3 owned equipment as determined by customer demand and carrier capacity.
- Docks loads, orders allocation research/reconciliation and seals input at time of shipment.
- Fields ongoing phone calls and e-mail that require problem solving practices to execute asks.
- Identifies carrier performance issues such as missed loads, late pickups and late loads and reports to the team.
- Coordinates where drivers are to drop and pick up trailers when they arrive at our facility.
- Assists the warehouse in coordinating trailer pools to doors or drop locations based on orders scheduled.
- Works with hostler to set equipment based on warehouse and carrier operations schedules
- Resolves carrier issues related to shipping and receiving facilities.
- Executes equipment utilization plan.
- Understands key business terms, lines of business, suppliers, and customers.
- Develops carrier relationships and contacts.
- Gathers data for the team to make recommendations for improvement or root cause analysis on problems/opportunities that are straightforward.
- Other duties as assigned, such as KPI’s, SOP development and Transportation Compliance Audits.
- Checks carriers in and out of facilities and directs them where to go and ensures understanding of driver behavior expectations.
- Prints and distributes applicable shipping documentation to include validation of accuracy and compliance to shipping document protocol.
- Reconcile and store shipping paperwork timely and within compliance of company/DOT requirements.
- Monitors Dock Door activity and traffic flow of campus.
- Maintains constant communication with warehouse operations on appointment arrival, docking activity assignment and capacity.
- Schedules inbound and outbound loads as needed.
- Manage by exception leveraging new software to maximize scheduling efficiencies (C3).
- Analyzes customer production line component needs for effective on time delivery to avoid downtime (JIT inventory management).
- Receives, completes and distributes Carrier Incident Reports to appropriate internal contacts via phone and email.
- Provides support to other lines of business during off shift hours (Tankers, Cal Carrier, etc.)
- Identifies process improvement opportunities.
- Communicates internal and external customer/carrier issues to to the Transportation Planner or Team Leader to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
- Communicates with customer, carriers, and internal staff in a timely, effective & professional manner.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources including carriers, customers, and team members.
- Completes all paperwork in a clear, legible manner,
- Maintains adequate housekeeping in work areas and cleans up after completion of the job and at the end of the shift.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate and 2 years of experience in transportation, truck dispatching, warehousing, or customer service.
- Skilled in Excel, Outlook and Access Database, proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Skilled in using a copy machine, computer, printer, scanner and telephone.
- Required to work twelve-hour shift, day or night shift as required. Required to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as necessary.
- Experience with a Warehouse Management System.
- Experience with coordinating activities between a Traffic Department and Warehouse Operation.
- Strong organization skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with multitasking and time management.
- Experience with heavy phone usage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 years of experience in a Logistics environment (Common Carrier Company, international, agricultural or 3rd Party Logistics) managing logistics activities required for the efficient transportation or storage of goods reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
- Skilled in SAP.
- Experience working with Oracle Transportation Management system.
- Experience effectively working against defined goals in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience critically assessing situation, solving problems, and working effectively under stress.
- Fluent in Spanish
- Experience working with carriers or drivers via an IT based model (TMS).
- Strong customer relations skills with all levels of customers both internally and externally.
