Logistics Specialist

Responsibilities

• Obtains freight quotes and schedules shipments as necessary
• Generate freight invoices
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
• Proper operation of equipment to safety and productivity requirements, i.e., forklift and/or hand truck operation to convey, move or hoist materials to load and unload trucks, transport equipment and supplies to proper departments or areas
• Unpacks, examines, and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
• Maintain dock areas and warehouses, in house and off site
• Maintain Maintenance records for the delivery truck
• Must follow proper safety procedures with warehouse housekeeping, proper use of personal protection equipment, safety devices and lock-out as required
• Provides guidance and assistance to trucks when arriving to shipping and receiving dock, chocking wheels, height and weight variations, etc.
• Prep and package forklifts and material handling equipment for shipping
• Pick up and deliver supplies as necessary
• Perform receiving inspections
