Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Develop an operational plan aligned with company goals that contribute to the business’s bottom line by providing strategic and tactical direction. Oversees day-to-day logistics to support growth, enhance efficiency, productivity and profitability in the following areas: shipping & receiving, warehouse, inventory control, material handling, customer service, transportation and labor planning. This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out all assigned tasks.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes.
  • Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.
  • Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.
  • Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
  • Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
  • Recommend purchase of new or improved technology, such as automated systems.
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues.
  • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency.
  • Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.
  • Monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
  • Design models for use in evaluating logistics programs or services.
  • Negotiate transportation rates or services.
  • Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation.
  • Manage personnel in the Shipping & Receiving and Warehouse departments.
  • Responsible for performance management, hiring, training and development.
  • Interact regularly with the executive team and individual department heads to ensure that company’s operational priorities are aligned with total company direction.
  • Initiate and train on Six Sigma/Lean Events and develop employees toward Green Belt Certification;
  • Team with Sr. Director of Quality Compliance to implement customer requirements into operations including quality, warehouse and shipping activities.
  • Supervise implementation of plans for material management of kits, lot buys, consignments and inventory stock pulls to meet production requirements.
  • Ensure safety standards are in compliance with OSHA.
  • Determine the departmental requirements, prepares reasons for incremental expenditures and submits an annual budget package for approval.
  • Direct the coordination of recycling, refuse or final disposal of scrap material with CSO.
  • Promote companywide 6S environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company code of conduct and all applicable laws, regulations, rules and policies.
  • Comply with all requirements of the AS9120, ISO 9001, ASA-100, and IDEA-STD-1010 Quality Management System and criteria of CCAP-101, AS6081, AC7402 and ANSI/ESD-S20.20.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCY:

  • B.A./B.S. from an accredited college or university.
  • IDEA ICE 3000 Certified Professional Inspector.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in distribution operations.
  • Operational experience within a Quality Management System.
  • Must obtain ISO or AS internal or lead auditor certification within first year of employment.
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Proven/demonstrated ability to lead a team.
  • Hazmat Certified.
  • Ability to sit, climb and crouch, as well as lift and move products and materials.
