Job Description

SEKO Logistics, operating under Shearer Companies, is seeking to hire a Logistics Coordinator for our Elkridge, MD location. The Logistics Coordinator works directly with client(s) and various shipping entities to ensure equipment is allocated and that shipments are scheduled, tracked and delivered to the customer’s satisfaction. This position requires use of independent judgment and decision making with respect to coordination of custom shipping arrangements which are key to the success of the company.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

  • Ensure that warehouse inventory is correct and available to allocate;
  • Schedule pick-up and/or delivery with appropriate carrier; provide concise instructions as to location and required date/time;
  • Responsible for managing costs within client transactions;
  • Enter complete and accurate instructions into the system and ensure paperwork is received by the proper individual in order to track progress of shipment;
  • Communicate with shipping agents to answer questions, ensure proper handling and packing of inventory and confirm required shipping instructions;
  • Negotiate rates, within specified guidelines, with carriers and agents as necessary;
  • Resolve issues, such as damaged or lost items and delayed shipments, and exercise good logistics judgment to avoid such issues;
  • Verify documents for accuracy and completeness prior to processing to ensure correct pricing;
  • Properly prepare client House Waybills for rating.

The ideal candidate(s) will possess the following:

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of customer service experience
  • Two (2) years experience in an office environment
  • Experience in surface transportation logistics preferred
  • International logistics experience a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well under deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • High School diploma or GED; Associate's degree desirable
