The Logistics Assistant / Shipping and Receiving clerk (LA) will act as the shipping and receiving clerk for our Baltimore Head Office. This position would be about 30 - 40% of daily workload, and include loading and unloading of trucks, receiving products into SAP, managing receipts of warranty returns, warehouse housekeeping and notification to responsible parties of inbound shipments. The Logistics Assistant will work within our Global Services Team and provide assistance with task such as, running daily reports, coordinating and recording inbound shipments to our 3PL warehouses, following up on shipments, verifying data and other task as assigned. The Logistics Assistant applies a range of skills including training, reporting, analysis, development, implementation, testing, documentation and business expertise – based on our strong commitment to “Lean Thinking”.

The LA will support both our outsourced warehouse operations, external logistics service providers and internal functions.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Shipping packages daily
  • Notify responsible person of all inbound shipments
  • Update all transactions in SAP as required
  • Receiving inbound shipments in SAP for 3PL warehouses
  • Receive and record warranty returns for the NAM Inspection Center
  • Maintain inbound shipment portal
  • Tracking and Maintenance of shipping supplies (boxes, tape, banding materials etc.)
  • Monitoring and receiving of supplies (packaging & maintenance)
  • Maintaining inventory controls
  • Organization of warehouse
  • Maintain forklift maintenance schedule – (calling for service)
  • Help with month end reporting
  • Help to run daily reports for warehousing
  • Assist as needed to support special projects
Background & Skills

The ideal candidate possesses these skills.

  • A high level of computer literacy with Microsoft Office Products
  • 1–5 years’ work experience required. Practical experience using SAP is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written required
  • Ability to work with operational workers, staff people, and senior level management
  • We expect that you are a team-player, but also self-motivated and independent
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • 1-year experience in shipping and receiving role
  • Must have forklift certification
