The Position

Job TitleLoan Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Description

SUMMARY

Loan Quality Assurance Specialist performs functions to ensure accuracy of bank loans, including loan report monitoring, and critical review of loan documentation, regulatory requirements, collateral perfection, and the core loan system. This position may progress in tiers I, II, III as knowledge and skills increase.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Perform loan quality pre-review of loan documentation to ensure regulatory and bank policy compliance, and collateral perfection before providing documents to borrowers, when needed.
  • Perform loan quality post review to ensure required loan documentation has been properly executed.
  • Review critical loan data in the bank’s core loan system for data integrity.
  • Conduct verifications of HMDA, CRA, Fair Lending and other regulatory required information and coordinate error resolution, as assigned.
  • Enter missing and recurring documentation requirements into the loan documentation exception tracking system, as appropriate.
  • Monitor reports to ensure accuracy of loan system, and regulation and bank policy compliance, as assigned.
  • Validate imaged documents and loan documentation exceptions.
  • Provide support to community banks, Loan Documentation preparation and Loan Servicing teams.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate review results, and any issues to supervisor, when applicable.
  • Recommend possible methods to improve task efficiency to supervisor, when appropriate.
  • Attend team and department meetings as requested.
  • Complete all assigned education, including annual compliance exams.
  • Always demonstrate professionalism in attire and communication.
  • Maintain knowledge of lending regulations.
  • Adhere to all First United Bank policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Good understanding of financial institution products and services
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
  • Computer software navigation skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to communicate well including verbal and written communication
  • Ability to execute tasks and projects with little or no supervision
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology and processes
  • Dependable and adheres to timelines and schedules
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team and with a wide range of people
  • Willingness to accept additional responsibilities

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, law, or finance
  • Experience in banking, lending, or operations
  • Experience with loan documentation, lien perfection, document tracking, collateral perfection, and lending related regulatory requirements
  • Experience with document and/or item exception tracking and document imaging systems
