- Salary is on the Teacher Salary Schedule on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable
- Starting teacher salary is $55,000.00 with Bachelor's degree; and additional stipend of $1,523.00 for Master's degree, with additional consideration for directly related experience

Primary Purpose:
Literacy Teacher is responsible for supporting student achievement in Reading Language Arts by working with individual students or small groups to improve foundational reading skills such as phonological awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency and reading comprehension. The Literacy Teacher will address the specific needs of students by using research-based interventions outside of the regular classroom instruction. Literacy Teachers work with staff to design methods of learning that are most appropriate for each student; provides staff development in relation to Reading Language Arts as part of facilitation of the MTSS/RtI process. This position is a campus-based position that reports directly to the office of Academic Services.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Valid Texas Teacher’s Certification
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and impersonal skills
Experience:
- Must have one (1) year teaching experience required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Provides high quality instruction to individual students and small groups.
- Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level.
- Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students.
- Uses identified research-based interventions focuses specifically on individual student needs.
- Maintains data-based documentation of continuous progress monitoring of student performance and progress.
- Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress.
- Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups.
- Participates in meetings with teachers, administration and families to discuss student placement and progress
- Provides input for program development.
- Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management system.
- Collaborates with district personnel to facilitate the coordination of the reading language arts program with the total curriculum.
- Collaborates with campus personnel in the Multi-Tiered System of Support/Response to Intervention (MTSS-RtI) process by assisting in determining intervention plans.
- Facilitates MTSS-RtI on assigned campus(es).
- Perform other duties as assigned in the best interest of the District.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise students and monitor work flow of instructional assistants, if applicable
