LIS Coordinator
Full Time - Day Shift (M-F, 8am-4:30pm)
Easton, MD

Job Summary:

Responsible for managing and coordinating all activities concerning lab computer systems, working as a partner with IS&T lab team. This includes but is not limited to instrument and LIS interfaces, clinical reporting needs and all computer related issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • Acts as a front line resource to all lab staff for problem investigation, troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Acts as liaison between UMMS IT and Laboratory staff. Provides on the ground LIS support for UM SRH.
  • Monitors and resolves issues with failed chart prints and fax requests.
  • Facilitates the addition of system enhancements and changes. Collaborates with laboratory managers and supervisors on requirements for submission to UMMS IT, ensures testing is performed and obtains laboratory clinical acceptance for enhancements and changes.
  • Assists in training lab staff on the laboratory information system.
  • Assists and coordinates activities related to system upgrades, including testing, downtime activities and post go live troubleshooting. Follows all approved change control policies and procedures.
  • Assures the ongoing compliance of the laboratory information system for regulatory and accreditation purposes and compliance with standards established by CAP, AABB, FDA, TJC and other regulatory agencies. Maintains records of compliance.
  • Performs periodic review of laboratory results to verify accurate transmission from the point of entry to patient reports. Performs autoverification and calculation audits and other audits required by regulatory agencies.
  • Assure proper installation, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of laboratory middleware, QC software laboratory instrument interfaces.
  • Assists with establishing appropriate CDM charges

What You Need to Be Successful:
  • Associates Degree in Laboratory Science (required).
  • Bachelor's Degree with a major in medical technology or related science (preferred).
  • 5 years of relevant LIS user and laboratory experience (required).
  • Medical Technologist (MT) (ASCP) registry/equivalent (preferred).
