Lifespace Communities would like to introduce the opportunity to become a Lifestyle/Activities Coach for our team who serves Assisted Living and Memory Care residents at Friendship Village of Bloomington. We are a CCRC community located in West Bloomington near highways 494 and 169. This position develops and carries out resident program plans and communicates plans and assignments with the team, which includes Lifestyle Assistants and Fitness Instructor. Position collaborates with a Chaplain, Transportation Coordinator and the Memory Care Lead positions to offer a wide variety of experiences for the community.

This position is great for an activities assistant who is looking to take the next leadership step or for someone who has skills and talents to share that would like to learn the senior living industry. Once hired, this position may receive educational assistance to become certified through NCCAP as an Activity Director Certified(ADC), if not already certified. The Lifestyle team is supported by fitness professionals, chaplains and bus drivers so you can concentrate on what you do best! We have great tools such as iN2L and a budget for great entertainment. Our brand new building opened in February for Assisted Living and Memory Care residents. We will have new skilled nursing neighborhoods opening in 2022. This position is Full Time and includes a weekend rotation. Regular schedule is 9:00-5:00 or 9:30-5:30. with evenings as planned for resident events. We prefer two or more years of experience in senior living. Familiarity with activity evaluations/assessments, documentation and care planning is a plus. (We use PCC software)

A few other details about the role:

  • Orchestrate and lead therapeutic activities.
  • Encourage residents to participate in daily planned activities.
  • Provide high level of resident engagement.
  • Establish one-on-one relationships with residents. Conduct resident activity interest surveys.
  • Provide hands-on/on-the-job training to newly hired activities assistants. Provide skill-set retraining as assigned.
  • Document resident attendance to activities. Electronically update care plan to include assessment, activity participation and progress notes.
  • Plan, create and publish monthly program and transportation calendar.
  • Communicate on-going performance feedback of assistants.
  • Maintain inventory par levels, track inventory and supplies.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Obtain knowledge and demonstrate the principles of Living Lifespace , person directed care and successful aging philosophies and their inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, team work and quality.
  • Team member will support, actively participate and act in accordance with the principles of the Living Lifespace service culture and be familiar with and fluent in the language and service pillars of Living Lifespace.

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Two to three years applicable experience
  • Related certification preferred.
  • Possess a genuine appreciation of older adults.
  • Ability to work with residents in a calm and professional manner.
  • Knowledgeable of computer functions and the ability to learn and use a variety of software.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, and efficiently implement events independently and in group involvement.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors and team members.
  • Advanced computer skills.
