DHM Properties is currently looking for Lifeguards to oversee the safety of pool guests for an apartment community in the Glenville, NY area. DHM Properties is a large and growing Property Management Company headquartered in Albany, NY, which currently manages and operates over 7,000 apartments throughout the NY, CT, MA and NH markets.
What the job is…
Our Lifeguards are responsible for the overall safety of all individuals in the pool area. This is accomplished by enforcement of safety rules and rules of the pool. In addition, Lifeguards are responsible for daily and routine maintenance of the swimming pool and surrounding area during their shift.
Responsibilities include: (but are not limited to)
- Supervise all swimmers and non-swimmers at the community pool
- Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations and policies to ensure safety of patrons
- Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations
- Maintaining order in swimming areas
- Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning
- Performing first aid procedures when needed
- Maintain the safety equipment, poolside
- Monitor pool equipment and chemical levels
- Vacuum and maintain the cleanliness of the pool
- Maintain the visual integrity of the pool area: Water flowers, sweep deck, pull weeds, empty trash
- Maintain all pool records and reports
- Inspect the pool area, daily, and report any unsafe conditions to the Office
- Other duties as assigned
Required Certifications:
- Current and valid Lifeguard certification (American Red Cross or the equivalent)
- Current and valid annual First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications (American Red Cross or the equivalent)
Required Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of pool operations and swimmer supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High attention to detail, organization and follow through
- Dependable and self-motivated
- Ability to be at work regularly and on time
- Ability to work weekends or extended hours, as required
- Reliable transportation required
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, swimming at variable depths, stooping/bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, pinching, gripping, reaching over head, reaching away from the body, and repetitive motion
- Use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms and the ability to lift items in excess of 100 pounds occasionally and 20-50 pounds frequently.
- Also includes the necessity to communicate by talking, hearing/listening.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
