Job Description:
Perkins Coie LLP's nationally-recognized Business Practice Group is seeking a highly-motivated Legal Practice Assistant to join the Boise office in our Emerging Companies and Venture Capital, as well as Mergers and Acquisitions practice groups. This position will provide varied and more complex administrative support, with moderate supervision, to designated attorneys and to the firm in the Business Group of our Boise office. As a member of a professional support staff team, this position will promote and maintain the goodwill and reputation of the firm and maintain the highest level of professional conduct and confidentiality.
Essential Functions:
Heavy client interface and scheduling, telephone and email communication with clients and attorneys; routing of inbound client requests to attorneys in various offices and practice groups; managing and coordinating calendar and travel schedules; and extensive document editing. May provide support with due-diligence binders, signature page packets, minute books, and stock certificates. Creating, editing, revising, redlining, and/or proofreading documents from handwritten, typed, and/or electronic copy; maintaining attorney calendars; coordinating meetings, including securing venues, ordering meals, and preparing materials; filing paper and electronic documents with appropriate agencies/entities; coordinating preliminary conflicts checks and preparing client intake forms and engagement letters; assisting with billing process, including time entry and review/edit of client billing invoices.
Required Skills:
Ability to accurately type 75 wpm, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish effective working relationships throughout operational groups. Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Word (especially in formatting Word documents using styles, cross-referencing, and track changes), Windows, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Familiarity with basic office equipment. Excellent organizational skills for prioritizing workload. Ability to compose correspondence. Knowledge of library operations and records storage procedures for retrieving materials and files for case work. Knowledge of records management. Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures pertinent to the business/corporate area of law.
Preferred Skills:
Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, Windows, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, iManage/FileSite, PBI, OneNote, lntapp and a document comparison program such as DeltaView or Workshare Compare is a plus.
Education and Experience:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of recent experience specifically in the corporate practice area. Impeccable attendance and punctuality and strong work ethic. Self-starter who is proactive with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
