Job Description

As Legal Counsel-Litigation, the candidate will be responsible for staffing a caseload of Fair Credit Reporting Act lawsuits in various courts (including federal, state, and small claims) against Equifax. The Legal Counsel-Litigation role is essential to ensuring that the Company is adequately protected in response to legal matters. The Legal Counsel-Litigation role is housed within the Litigation Department at Equifax and reports directly to Senior Litigation Counsel.

What You’ll Do
  • The Legal Counsel-Litigation role will work independently, with paralegal support, to represent Equifax in the lawsuits that are part of this role’s caseload.
  • This position will review complaint allegations, determine a strategy for responding, prepare answers and motions as necessary, represent Equifax in discovery and trial as necessary, and negotiate settlements where appropriate.
  • As part of the Litigation Department at Equifax, you will be integrally involved in managing a high-volume litigation docket.
  • The Litigation Department is accountable for all lawsuits filed against the Company in the United States, as well as various pre-litigation matters and other legal counsel as necessary.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience working in the litigation department of a sizable law firm handling cases with little oversight.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • J.D. Degree
  • 25% travel
