Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):
National paralegal certification preferred.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Associate degree in Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, Business Office Management, or Legal or Administrative Assistant Program strongly preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a legal assistant, administrative assistant, or paralegal with at least two (2) years of experience in a legal setting.
Proven proficiency in word processing including proficiency in Microsoft Word, including editing, formatting and proofreading documents. Proficiency in other Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams, and in other programs, such as Adobe.
As liaison between Legal Services and a variety of people and organizations, outstanding interpersonal skills are necessary to courteously and effectively interact with a diverse group of management, members of the health system, physicians, colleagues, government agents and external visitors and callers; tact and diplomacy required.
Maintain attorneys’ schedules, assist with scheduling of meetings, and complete other administrative tasks.
Maintain high level of confidentiality.
Excellent proofreading, attention to detail, and grammar skills required.
Must possess initiative, time management skills, and be able to organize and implement work priorities.
Proven ability to manage and meet deadlines, with work exhibiting accuracy and neatness.
Ability to handle complaints diplomatically and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to develop and maintain efficient records management system.
Monitor and process incoming mail and email and arrange for delivery of legal correspondence.
Organize and maintain Legal Services physical office space, including management of files, library, and supplies.
Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations relative to work and with attorney oversight.
