Position Summary
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a Lecturer (non-tenure-track) position in Mathematics beginning Fall 2021. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve excellence in teaching and service and to assist in further development of the UNT-Dallas Mathematics program. We are especially interested in hiring a Lecturer who can demonstrate excellence in teaching both introductory courses in math and in all levels of Statistics and Applied Math courses. UNT-Dallas offers faculty the unique opportunity to help shape the character of a 21st century, learner-focused, urban comprehensive university.
We are particularly interested in student-centered, innovative, and energetic candidates who can work effectively with both incoming freshmen and mathematics majors. Experience in engaging students and keeping their interest in the classroom is a plus in this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for teaching four (4) courses per semester. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in such service activities as curriculum development, online course development, student recruiting, program assessment, project development, program leadership, and committee leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics
- Evidence or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in Mathematics, both in online and face-to-face formats
- Demonstrated potential for leadership in academic program development
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics
- Experience in developing and teaching a range of mathematics, statistics, and applied math courses
- Experience teaching culturally diverse adults in a post-secondary setting
- Evidence or demonstrated potential for developing service learning and experiential learning programs
