Posting SummaryThe Humanities Action Lab (HAL) at Rutgers University-Newark is searching for a full-time, non-tenure track, calendar-year Lecturer (Instructor) for a one-year appointment to begin September 1, 2021. Position is designed to create a pilot model for HAL’s future curricular work through responsibilities including curriculum development and teaching, networking and community building, and strategic planning. Successful candidate will design and teach a translocal course, engaging faculty, students, organizers, and exhibiting partners from the broader HAL network to reimagine student-community co-created, project-based public humanities work. Position will work with HAL staff and community partners to identify goals for the course; assess the course; and revise course design accordingly. Support planning, strategic expansion, and embedding of HAL’s courses and curricular partnerships at RU-N by working with RU-N faculty and administrators on strategies such as a course track/trajectory, faculty convenings, “lab” classes/internships/capstones, or other activities. Create and distribute collective pedagogical and project resources for participants for faculty, community partners, and students to use for public humanities work, and strategies for implementing those resources. Applicants must have demonstrated teaching experience with an inclusivity/belonging approach at the university level. Academic department will depend on the field of the successful candidate.
