Job Summary
Leasing Associate, to join our team and will primarily be responsible for processing and maintain applicant files.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
- Renting apartments, administrative functions and providing outstanding service to prospect residents and third -party agencies.
- Facilitates all aspects of the apartment leasing process, qualifying prospective residents and signing leases
- Request & review initial verifications of applicants income/ assets/ housing from applicant and 3rd party.
- Perform credit/ criminal background screening
- Complete subsidy packages (Section 8, LINC, FHEPS, SEPS, etc
- Assist with processing annual recertification.
- DHCR Rent Registration
- Rent Stabilization
- Knowledge of all affordable programs: LIHTC, HOME, Section 8, etc.
- Preparing and sending out lease renewals
- Remain current with all Agency required compliance documents and trainings.
- Other tasks and special projects as required by management.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a leasing, finance, or bookkeeping position with a real estate company or related field
- Knowledge of NYC rent regulations and affordable housing programs
- High school diploma or GED required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (expert with excel functions preferred)
- Proficient with property management software (Yardi experience preferred) or ability to learn new software quickly
- 2+ years of experience in LIHTC and/or Section 8 housing programs
- Ability to multi-task and complete multiple projects with different deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Strong attention to detail and follow through
- Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred, but not required
