DutiesSummary

Positions at Devils Tower and Yellowstone are Career-Seasonal.

Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work approximately 26 pay periods a year, not to exceed a maximum of 50 pay periods.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct remittances and reconciliation for cash and credit card funds collected and prepare income transfers.
  • Balance workload among employees and monitor employee's day to day operations making adjustments for priorities where necessary.
  • Train employees on proper fee handling techniques, use of point of sales system and policies and procedures.
  • Report to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems.

    • Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

    Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.



    EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: preparing remittance reports and bank deposits for funds collected. Troubleshoot accounting problems and correct complex errors. Audit employee shift paperwork for completion and accuracy. Conduct cash register and road audits to ensure proper accountability of government funds. Perform reconciliation on credit card transactions and/or cash remittances and complete paperwork for income transfers. Order, inventory, distribute and maintain accurate records for accountable stock. Perform campground duties such as collecting fees, monitoring campground self-registration. You must include hours per week worked.

    Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education

    A Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for a Federal employee when the employee must move, as directed by the National Park Service (NPS) either through a management directed reassignment or selection for employment, to a different location at least 50 miles away from the one where his/her position of record held at time of selection is currently located, due to a need of the NPS. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another.

    This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.

    Physical Demands: Standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting of moderately heavy items and sedentary work
    is required. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money.

    Working Conditions: Work is often performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations.
    High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. Duties may be performed alone in isolated locations.
