Summary
A team leader is the therapist who is in charge of the shift, they are responsible to oversee all Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs)
working on their shift to assure that patient care is completed as outlined in departmental policies. The team leaders are to be a
respiratory care resource to others in the medical center as well as a liaison of the respiratory managers and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Must maintain skills for essential duties and responsibilities for CRT or RRT job descriptions.
2. Serve as resource person to RCP's, physicians, and other disciplines within the medical center.
3. Must model leadership qualities when changes are made in department policies and procedures. Must strive to promote positive
outcomes to changes in policies and procedures.
4. Develop RCP's clinically and in professional behavior to promote harmonious relationships.
5. Responsible for data entry, ordering, environmental monitoring and QC of Blood Gases.
6. Responsible for the staffing of the oncoming shift and dividing the work load assignments among staff.
7. Responsible to order rental equipment when needed and notify BioMed/maintenance if rental equipment is brought into the
medical center.
8. Responsible for sending pneumograms to Toledo and for downloading nocturnal studies for physician reading.
9. Must be responsible to carry out additional duties as assigned by managers.
10. Handle customer complaints when they occur on their shift and resolve complaints professionally and responsibly.
- Must hold a current Ohio License with the Ohio Respiratory Care Board,
- CRT with 10 years or more of experience or must be RRT eligible or an RRT with the National Board for Respiratory care.
- BLS certification by the AHA
- ACLS, NRP and PALS certified within one year of hire date.
