The Role
Overview:
The Lead will manage the daily activities of his/her area including ownership of the results, coaching the temporary employees, interfacing with other departments and meeting department goals. Responsibilities will include ensuring that the day to day truck activity and appropriate paperwork has been completed. The Lead will also provide daily/weekly reports for Manager and or Management positions of shipping/loading activities. Will oversee and assist in coordinating shipping activities with sales and production personnel. They are also responsible for attendance and some employee coaching.
Here's what you'll do:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate the startup activities of the area including quality, safety and productivity expectations and status to the team in pre shift/level meetings.
- Demonstrate proactive planning for daily loading and staging of orders.
- Monitor team member's hours, breaks, lunch periods and schedules as efficiently as possible to minimize production downtime.
- Work with other leads to manage immediate tasks as well as outages and special request.
- Assist in the continuous improvement efforts at the facilities in Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Cost and Productivity
- Ensure team members are compliant in all Safety initiatives including daily Critical Behavior Observations and Weekly Safety Tailgates.
- Inspect equipment area and complete work orders as necessary.
- Responsible for operating computer systems to respond to internal customer requests as well as review inventory availability and print required loading documents.
- Daily auditing of operators loading documents and coaching for performance when outages are found.
- Coordinate inventory activities as shift allows ensuring inventory accuracy.
- Review operators loading practices to ensure FIFO is followed. Provide coaching when outages are found.
- Interprets company policies and procedures to team members, works with team members to resolve job problems.
- Ensure team members are trained in the safe and efficient operation of equipment in their area.
- Coach and inspire each member of their area to achieve a higher level of performance. Be a good role model in the department.
- Conduct safety incident investigations and complete necessary paperwork.
- Other duties as assigned.

Here's what you'll do:
- COVID vaccination will be required for this position unless candidate has a legally valid exemption.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 to 2 years of a leadership role in a production environment preferred.
- The position requires precision and is very detail oriented.
- Speak, read and write in the English language, bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in oral and written form.
- Previous knowledge of loading specifics to include weight requirements and best loading practices.
- Must work with fellow co-workers and promote a teamwork environment.
- Good problem-solving skills and communication.
- Must have advanced computer skills; experience required using Microsoft Windows (i.e. Excel and Word).
- Basic mathematical skills required.
- Ability to multi-task and be comfortable in a fast-paced work setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
