SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Lead Data Analyst is a member of the Revenue Strategy, Planning, and Analytics (RSPA) team within the Pricing and Revenue Management (PRM) department at Amtrak. The position reports to the Sr. Manager – Revenue Retailing Products, who is the owner of all Amtrak revenue retailing products and programs, such as the bidding for upgrades (“BidUp”) program, developing customer-centric product offerings (“Road to Retailing” program,) and associated analytics tools to evaluate and monitor program performance. These programs provide enhanced, customer-centric product offerings for current and potential Amtrak customers, contributing to future yearly growth in current and future yearly customer ridership and customer ticket revenues exceeding $2.3 billion and increasing the customer satisfaction index (“CSI.”)

On an on-going basis, the position is responsible for:

  • Data analyses associated with the performance of revenue retailing products
  • Supporting new revenue retailing product rollouts and enhancements to existing products in the role of business analyst and business tester
  • Ensuring smooth daily operations of existing revenue retailing products both in terms of customer experience and internal Amtrak performance reporting processes

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop requirements for revenue retailing products, working with Amtrak stakeholders, based on overall Amtrak business needs, and participate in business user testing
  • Regarding daily operations of revenue retailing products.
    • Ensure proper operational performance
    • Serve as liaison between Amtrak RM department users, the Amtrak IT department, and vendor staff
  • Analyze data from revenue retailing products to measure performance, particularly in terms of revenue and ridership impacts, and to identify revenue and ridership opportunities.
  • Present to senior management findings, conclusions, and recommendations regarding pricing and inventory management strategies.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any business field, economics, mathematics, or other related fields with 6+ years of relevant experience in the transportation industry, or Master’s degree in any business field, economics, mathematics, or other related fields with 4+ years of relevant experience in the transportation industry
  • Experience with market and pricing analyses
  • Experience with data warehouse and data visualization interface applications, such as Business Objects, Tableau, Adobe Analytics, etc.
  • Experience with passenger rail reservation systems
  • Experience with passenger rail revenue management systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, tailoring communication to audiences ranging from technical to executive.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with revenue retailing products
  • Experience with at least one of the programming languages: R or Python
  • Experience with at least one of the following DBMS platforms: Microsoft SQL, Oracle, or AWS Redshift.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
