Primary Purpose:
This position is part of the Morning Pointe Operations Team, a resident-focused, high performance, high commitment work team that supports the Morning Pointe purpose of “partnering with families in meeting the challenges of life”. As a care partner, the Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the resident with the activities of daily living. The RA is also responsible for ensuring that quality services is a way of life for Morning Pointe where every associate’s interaction with residents and family members reflects the philosophy of Morning Pointe.
Qualifications/Skills Needed:
The successful candidate must meet educational requirements by having a high school diploma or equivalent and an active Certified Nursing License in the state in which they work. CNA license with at least 2 years as a Caregiver in AL or Memory Care setting is required. Strong verbal and written communications skills are essential. Also prefer that the candidate have experience in working with older adults and a knowledge of the aging process. A flexible work schedule is also a necessity.

Working Conditions:
- Subject to frustrations in meeting work demands due to frequent interruptions.
- Fast paced, required to make decisions quickly.
- Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
- May work beyond normal business hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
- Subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Caregiving Duties:
- Work with the Resident Services Director and the rest of the operations team to build relationships and strong communication with residents and families to ensure adjustment to Morning Pointe, identification of needs and problems, and the development of an appropriate plan of service for each individual resident.
- Provide training and orientation to Certified Nursing Assistants as directed by supervision.
- Assisting with ADLs, light housekeeping and laundry.
- Perform delegated tasks as instructed by the Executive Director to include paperwork, record keeping and staff organization.
- Document observations and activities in an accurate, complete and timely manner. Notify Executive Director or RSD of resident or staff complaints or issues; provide communication to the family or resident as directed.
- Protect residents’ health information according to HIPAA policies and procedures and federal and state law and regulations.
- This position does have leadership responsibilities but does not have direct supervisory responsibilities except in the absence of the RSD or Nurse. This position does participate in the performance management functions of the staff.
- Must be responsible, compassionate, have a mature, positive attitude and want to make a difference in the lives of our residents.
- Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living to meet the resident’s physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual needs with respect and dignity.
- Assist in recording temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
- Aid in the delivery of specific core programs, such as falls, prevention, exercise, and others as identified, which will provide entertainment, socialization, exercise, relaxation and fulfillment of spiritual needs to all residents.
- Share resident success stories and best practices to demonstrate the impact of improved quality of service provided.
- Participate in family conferences as needed to discuss the resident’s status and review the appropriate service plan.
- Report any concerns or changes in resident’s physical, intellectual or emotional well-being to the RSD Team Leader.
- Create and maintain resident records by properly creating Resident Records on move-in.
- Meet weekly with RSD to discuss documentation and changes related to resident status.
- Ensure daily record keeping is current and up to date, including group assignment, 24 hour report, Diet Report, Incontinent sheet, and Bed linen assignment sheet.
- Report any concerns to RSD regarding residents and associate on daily basis.
- Must be flexible with work schedule as needed.
- Clean assigned areas following cleaning schedule.
- Learn and demonstrate proper cleaning solutions, identify solutions, display knowledge of solution apparatus.
- Familiarize self with MSDS booklet and Universal Work Precautions.
- Understand proper use of facility equipment.
- Housekeeping duties may include, but are not limited to, laundering linens and personal clothing, cleaning bathrooms, taking out the trash, spot cleaning carpets, and changing light bulbs.
- Report observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects, and malfunctions to the supervisor.
- May perform or assist with kitchen duties as necessary and requested by supervisor.
- Carry out special duties or projects as assigned.
- Assist residents with meals; assist with set-up, service and feeding if necessary.
- Pass hydration and snacks as scheduled.
- May perform or assist with kitchen duties as necessary and requested by supervisor.
- Provide job shadow training to all Certified Nursing Assistant new hires.
- Resolve problems as they occur on the floor with the direction of the R.S.D.
- Provide assistance to the R.S.D with scheduling and admins.
- Provide assistance with the interviewing process as needed.
- Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Meet general health requirements set forth by the policies of the organization, which may include a medical and physical examination.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, turning and stretching. Finger and hand dexterity required. Visual and hearing acuity essential. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions necessary. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations required.
