Job Description

The Business Controller (BC) is responsible for providing financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting and analysis for a group of business units within the US Environment Division. The BC reviews month end income statements and is responsible for the oversight of certain AR functions, review of accruals and prepaids, and review of cash flow. Cash flow funding requests are completed as necessary. Forecasts are completed and reviewed with Business Leaders. Ad Hoc scenarios and modeling are completed as required. Capex request forms are completed and reviewed with the business. The BC functions as a critical financial and accounting advisor to the business units within their scope.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provides business units with financial reporting, KPIs and metrics
  • Works with business units to complete projections (budgets, forecasts and mid term plans)
  • Complete capex review and forms; reviews investment opportunities and metrics
  • Reviews month end prelim P&Ls for correctness and works with NSC to make any needed adjustment
  • Prepares and reviews certain accruals
  • Oversight in annual inventory and fixed asset physicals for relevant BUs
  • Serves as financial advisor to business units with business/cost results of financial decisions.
  • Reviews cost data and makes recommendations on potential actions to improve cost control
  • Prepares and analyzes annual budgets based on past performance and future expectations.
  • Participates in accounts receivable collection to achieve goals.
  • Prepares and reviews capital spending requests to ensure capital is being spent effectively and capital is being properly controlled.
  • Responds to requests of management, laboratories, accounting, and clients for financial information.

Lead a Team of Business controllers


Qualifications

BS/BA in Accounting or related field. MBA, CPA or CMA preferred but not required.

Minimum 5 years accounting (with at least two of those years in Financial Planning & Analysis) experience and 2 years supervisory experience

CPA/CMA or MBA preferred but not required
