THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a Legal Support Manager, you will manage the daily operations of the Atlanta legal support teams including overseeing 20 paralegals, 20 secretaries and 10 case assistants across all practice areas, ensuring all work is completed accurately and timely. You will be responsible for building a collaborative team across all practice areas within the office.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

On any given day, you will:

  • Supervise the Atlanta Legal Secretarial, Paralegal, Case Assistant teams, including overseeing their day-to-day activities including quality of their work product, performance management, employee relations and professional development.
  • Monitor timekeepers’ time distribution reports, billable targets, and overtime hours; maximize utilization of existing resources and workload.
  • Oversee and direct, as necessary, departments’ workload and workflow; respond to emergency requests and ad hoc projects; manage secretarial assignments for optimum benefit.
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs to ensure staff are engaged and clients’ needs are met.
  • ?Work closely with the Atlanta Office Administrator to ensure a smooth business operation. Provide back-up support for the OA, as needed.
  • Determine and communicate paralegal and case assistants’ operational procedures, such as assigning work, billable hours’ requirements, daily time entry, professional development opportunities, etc.
  • Train, coach and mentor direct reports to reach their full potential to improve direct reports’ skills, service levels, cost management, and efficiency. Builds supportive environment for paralegal and case assistant team.
  • Work in collaboration with HR and department leaders, interviews and selects secretary, paralegal and case assistant candidates and new hires.
  • Review Carpe Diem records, and approve Kronos and PTO requests.
  • Partner with department leaders, Atlanta management team and/or Office Administrator to ensures proper departmental coverage, adjusting team members’ responsibilities, as needed, to cover absences and/or periods of heavy workload. Ensure even distribution of work to determine future headcount.
  • Any other duties and ad-hoc projects, as assigned.

YOU HAVE:

  • A high school degree. College graduate preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of previous Paralegal/Secretarial experience in a law firm or other professional services setting of comparable size required.
  • Previous supervisory and performance management experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related technologies.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal processes and terminology.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, an ability to multi-task effectively, professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Ability to make effective supervisory decisions and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work discreetly and sensitively with confidential information and in various situations.
