Job Description

Work Hours may vary:

8am to 3pm and/or 9pm to 1am

SUMMARY:

Assists in the provision of clean, sanitary linens and laundry for residents.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Regularly provides linen and laundry services to residents. This includes but is not limited to the performance of the following duties: retrieve linens and laundry from resident rooms ; properly sort, inspect, and treat linens; wash, dry, fold and properly store articles.

2. Responsible for day to day operations of laundry department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: proper use; cleaning and maintenance of equipment; making minor repairs to equipment, monitoring equipment; and reporting observations concerning equipment wear, defects and malfunctions to supervisor/designee; maintenance of clean and orderly laundry area; coordinate inventory and ordering of supply and equipment needs.

3. Observes proper safety and reports safety matters to immediate supervisor. This includes but is not limited to: incidents, injuries, equipment and/or maintenance problems, OSHA mandates, workplace safety practices, infection control, hazard communication, blood borne pathogens, fire safety and proper lifting techniques . In an emergency, carries out responsibilities to assure resident and employee safety.

4. Ensures proper documentation is maintained. This includes but is not limited to: documentation of cleaning services, safety concerns and measures taken to address the same, as well as other documentation required by policy, practices or procedures.

5. Performs quality assessment and assurance functions, as directed, including but not limited to: assisting with regular audits and other monitoring of services provided.

6. Assists in the development and update of environmental services policies and procedures to reflect the philosophy of the facility, professional standards, and legal requirements.

7. As directed, assists Environmental Services Director/designee with survey processes.

8. Maintains and applies current skills and knowledge through continuing education and in-service programs.

9. Carries out responsibilities in compliance with federal, state, local laws and regulations, and with facility philosophy, policies and procedures.

10. Must be able to speak, understand and read the English language to the extent necessary to safely and properly provide laundry services to residents.

11. This position requires standing, sitting, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds or more, bending, climbing, twisting upper body, walking, running, carrying, listening, talking, use of telephone, and exposure to medical equipment and persons with risk of illness.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Meets state and federal requirements.
