Our organization is seeking a highly qualified Laboratory Technician to be a member of our Geismar, Louisiana team. Reporting to the Supervisor of the Laboratory, the primary purpose of the Lab Technician is to perform routine analysis on raw materials, process streams and products, and verify and maintain process and product specifications.
You Will Use Your Expertise To:
Perform chemical, physical, or scientific analysis utilizing both routine and special techniques in compliance with all safety standards
Work with Operations, Safety, Engineering, Environmental, Safety, and Administrative departments to achieve facility and operational metrics
Maintain quality control standards within the olefin’s laboratory
Collect, analyze, and process laboratory samples to ensure compliance and quality
Perform maintenance, repair, and calibration on laboratory and process equipment and tools to Operates, maintain, install, and repair laboratory test equipment, apparatus and systems, and maintains laboratory supplies Maintains laboratory equipment and performs limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments
Generate and record appropriate data, perform analytical calculation, and complete necessary documentation of analyses performed
What We Are Looking For:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Science, or related field.
Ability to wear safety gear, protective equipment, gloves, uniforms, and other articles of safety clothing or gear as required by Nova’s and regulatory agencies.
Preferred experience within the Petrochemical, Manufacturing, or related industry
Proficient knowledge and experience with plant operations, lab testing, and lab testing equipment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work both in a team setting and individually with minimal supervision
Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Additional Information: This position will be located at our Geismar, LA location in the United States. This position will require the successful candidate to:
Work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
Frequently stand for long periods of time and handle multiple items.
The worker may be potentially exposed to hazardous materials (such as flammables, toxics, corrosives, irritants, carcinogens, etc.…)
Occasionally perform floor to knuckle lifting, floor to waist lifting, floor to shoulder lifting, and floor to overhead of up to fifty (50) lbs.
Occasionally perform one-hand and two hand carrying of up to fifty (50) lbs.
Occasionally push and pull items of up to one-hundred ten (110) lbs.
Occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, and/or reach for items
The worker is subject to confined spaces, cramped quarters, and elevated heights (up to 206 ft.).
The worker is subject to a dry, wet, and high humidity (above 90%) working environment.
The worker is subject to extreme cold (temperatures typically below 32 degrees), and extreme heat: (temperatures above 100 degrees).
The worker is subject to noise (over 85 Decibels), Moving Equipment, and Vibrating-Rotating equipment.
