Lab Assistant (2100212) – San Diego, CA
BASF is looking to hire a Laboratory Assistant to support our dynamic Enzyme Technologies R&D team.
The position will support enzyme discovery and screening efforts by providing research teams with glassware and autoclave services and preparing and procuring biological media, chemicals, stock solutions, and buffers.
In addition to these responsibilities, this individual will play a central role in supporting bioresource management efforts including the organization, archival, and retrieval of internal collections of microbial strains, DNA samples, and enzyme powders. Other activities include providing basic molecular biology support to project team members.
As a Lab Assistant, you will work out of our BASF Enzymes site in San Diego, CA.

Be able to independently organize, prioritize, plan, execute, and record a variety of tasks daily. Display strong interpersonal skills and be a proactive and confident communicator with internal and external parties.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
Basic qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology or Chemistry required.1 year of experience in a laboratory environment required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Solid written and verbal presentation skills, with ability to effectively use MS Office Suite.Hands on experience using aseptic technique in handling and culturing of microorganisms.Experience making yeast and bacterial competent cells is a plus.Proficiency in a variety of basic DNA manipulation techniques; including DNA extractions, gel electrophoresis, quantitation, PCR, restriction digestion, and bacterial transformation.Knowledge and experience with biobanking platforms, automated liquid handlers, and lab automation is a plus.
