Internship will be almost entirely remote, but intern may be required to attend meetings or events on site in St. Petersburg, FL

About the Knowledge Management Team
The Knowledge Management team is in the PSCU Learning and Org Development business unit passionate about turning knowledge into action. The team consists of 2 work groups, each with a specific mission:
Technical Writing – work with business contacts to analyze, inventory and codify critical knowledge assets into a consumable and balanced format that can easily be integrated into multiple knowledge repositories and maintained, through predefined governance, by the client organization.
Knowledge Integration – partner with ITS and other key partners to design knowledge repositories, including information architecture, user experience, taxonomy, and navigation/page design.

Goals and Objectives
The primary intent of the project that the intern will be working on is to help PSCU implement technical writing standards in all technical and procedural documentation. The Knowledge Management team partners with teams across the enterprise to prepare knowledge assets for integration and migration into the Enterprise Knowledge Management System. Each business unit has been tasked with detailing and sharing their key procedures into a shared library.
The intern, under the direction of the KM Manager, will use technical writing expertise to collaborate with key partners in each business unit to build and publish a technical writing style guide that can be referenced by any PSCU employee. In addition, there are opportunities to participate in other KM initiatives based on availability and interest.
The following are the project’s key achievements:
Discovery: Interview and partner with key partners to identify and differentiate vital technical language. OUTPUT: Report and presentation highlighting key findings from partner research and interviews.
Determine : Demonstrate the findings in the Discovery phase to research, identify and draft prioritized list of vital style elements to standardize. OUTPUT: Outline of style guide including all medium to high priority elements, including suggested common definitions and usage.
Develop: Once outline approval is received, move forward with crafting a digital technical writing style guide that includes approved elements. Collaborate with the identified subject matter expert(s) inside the business and in the industry as needed to finalize and publish. OUTPUT: Published, approved digital technical writing style guide.
Transition: Work with leadership to implement and communicate new style guide to organization to promote use and adoption. Work with content owner and document maintenance steps for element updates and additions. OUTPUT: Ownership transferred in writing to Knowledge Management department.

The PSCU’s Summer Internship Program provides you – a junior or senior undergraduate student - with the chance to develop and hone your skills in business. We offer the opportunity to build for your future by learning firsthand the Financial and more specifically Credit Union industry through business acumen training, coupled with focused learning opportunities in a core functional specialty. You’ll also gain insight into our rich history, our outstanding culture, and our committed social conscience.
In this 10-week program, for the first week, you’ll engage in orientation and get a grounding in Credit Unions. For the remaining time, you’ll work in a specific core function in our St. Petersburg headquarters based on your interests and interview results. In addition to your daily work, you’ll be participating leadership development sessions and interacting with PSCU’s senior leadership teams.
PSCU Intern Program Entry Qualifications
- Completion of sophomore or junior year in an accredited undergraduate degree program with a 3.0/4.0 GPA at time of application.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate thoughts, communicate, completely, and concisely.
- Strong, organizational, and detail skills, with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to pivot easily when directions and priorities change on short notice.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite® with a heavy emphasis on Excel.
- Proficiency in software that applies to your major and function-specific internship.
- Passion for learning the Credit Union Industry.
- Must be able to commute to St. Petersburg when vital during the program.
- Being friendly, hardworking, and energetic, with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service.
Knowledge Management Internship Requirements
- Familiarity with the following tools and skills are highly desirable: technical writing fundamentals, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) fundamentals
- Familiarity with general business knowledge, organizational behavior courses, and/or leadership involvement in extracurricular activities
- Familiarity with newest versions of Chicago, Associated Press, Microsoft, or Yahoo writing style guides
- Ability to contribute and lead within a team environment
