QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree in operations management, statistics or industrial engineering with a strong quantitative underpinning and an outstanding academic record; masters degree strongly preferred
- 1+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing, service-oriented, analytics firm with basic supply chain
- Coding skills in Excel VBA, Excel Macros, R, Python or any other open source language
- Specific exposure to issues in inventory management, demand planning, production planning and scheduling, logistics optimization and IT in supply chain is desirable
- Excellent problem-solving skills including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines
- Ability to work effectively with people/teams at all levels in an organization
- Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively
WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will be based in Dallas as part of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Center of Competence (MSC CoC), the analytics wing of McKinsey & Company's MSC practice.
You will work directly with client project teams on MSC and logistics related issues of McKinsey’s clients from various industry verticals.
You will focus on three main aspects amongst others; MSC and logistics quick & deep dive diagnostics with analytics, complex combinatorial optimization, statistical and simulation modeling and MSC and logistics transformation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will spend a significant part (>50-60%) of your time working with the Operations (MSC) practice and consulting teams in McKinsey to help solve complex client problems in the supply chain domain.
Some of your responsibilities will include developing optimal network configuration models for global supply chains of clients, stochastic simulation of inventory levels with the objective of creating a robust inventory policy, conducting diagnostics on supply chain health and performance for our clients, etc.
You will spend a part of your time in doing general analytical work for the whole clientele of McKinsey which would include among others, usage of statistical techniques and operations research for data analysis.
You will also support development and maintenance of McKinsey’s proprietary MSC & Operations management tools and other knowledge development projects.
