Job Description
Burial Beer Co's long-awaiting Charlotte Taproom will be opening in late spring. As the site is in the final renovation stages, it is time to start building the team that will bring the plans to life. Hiring will take place in March and April, and start dates will be early May.

Job Summary
We are looking for a Kitchen Manager to join our team at Burial Beer Co.'s Charlotte Taproom. This position will oversee the daily operations of our Taproom kitchen including food preparation, ordering supplies, scheduling shifts, and monitoring inventory levels. This position would like someone with proven culinary and management experience. In addition to being an excellent communicator, this candidate should also demonstrate outstanding leadership and organizational abilities. The ability to work as a part of a team professionally and respectfully is essential.

Charlotte Kitchen Manager Job Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and upkeep of kitchen equipment
  • Proper labeling/storage/waste management of food products
  • Communication/observation of standards to staff
  • Maintain kitchen safety standards - create SOPs
  • Attention to food and labor costs
  • Budget Management
  • Complete monthly inventory sheets
  • Complete weekly expense report
  • Maintain professional and productive relationship with all employees
  • Manage inventory of ingredients
  • Ensure the importance of cleanliness and organization skills of BOH staff
  • Maintain cost of goods sold in line with budget
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with producers and farmers
  • Lead team of passionate cooks with an environment developed by example
  • Maintain an environment focusing on teamwork and without ego
  • Keep open dialogue with members of the FOH staff and management
  • Make time each week to meet with FOH and BOH staff to discuss events, menus, and prep
  • Ensure the kitchen and staff is ready for service on time
  • Prep/dish/cook work required
  • On call to cover sick days and/or PTO
  • Interviewing/hiring new staff members
  • Scheduling and PTO approval
  • Seasonal menu development
  • Creation of weekly specials
  • Ordering the necessary products for kitchen needs and daily functions
Job Qualifications
Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination Must be 21 years of age or older A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role In depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations Ability to work well in small spaces and a fast-paced environment Excellent problem-solving and conflict management abilities Good communication and organizational skills Attention to detail Must have open availability
