Job Description
Zurich Insurance is currently looking for a Market Facing Underwriter/Underwriting Analyst for our Accident & Health, Occupational Accident Division. The preferred location for this position would be in our Chicago, IL office. We are also open to this position sitting in our Schaumburg, IL office and traveling into Chicago as needed. The Underwriting Analyst will work with a suite of products within Occupational Accident Market Basket.
This is a highly technical, and market facing position. Experience with Occupational Accident lines of business is preferred, but not required. As a member of Zurich’s A&H Underwriting Team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills. Specifically, you will learn to underwrite and analyze new and renewal Occupational Accident business utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels.
Our Underwriters are market-facing with objectives focused on profitable growth and superior service to our broker partners and customers.

Our Market Facing Underwriter/Underwriting Analyst is responsible for:
- Generating, underwriting and analyzing a suite of Occupational Accident products
- Market facing, account servicing, and production activities within the A&H Division
- Complying with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
- Developing and maintaining agency and broker relationships
- Working within broad limits and authorities on complex assignments
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance area or Market Facing Area
OR - High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
AND - Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
- Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree with 1 or more years’ experience in the underwriting area, preferably Accident and Health experience.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office skills
