We are looking for a motivated individual to fill the role of Junior Estimator at our Pasadena, Texas location.
Summary: Responsible for supporting estimating group in providing accurate and timely estimates on industrial construction and maintenance projects. Projects will require estimating civil, concrete, structural steel, process equipment installation and process piping work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Review Invitation to Bids (ITB s), Scope of Work, Scope of Supply, and bid packages
- Some travel required to attend bid meetings/bid walks and occasional site visits.
- Perform labor and quantity takeoffs for concrete work, structural steel, process equipment, process piping, etc. Must be a multi-discipline estimator.
- Prepare Request for Quote (RFQ) packages for and solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors. Review the quotes and qualifications to recommend the vendors and subcontractors to be included in the estimates
- Participate with estimate leads and operations to develop construction methods and equipment utilization plans for efficiently executing projects and tailor estimates accordingly
- Participate in bid reviews with estimating management and project management
- Assist in proposal schedules (Excel Format) or coordinate proposal schedule preparation with estimating manager or project controls for development of the Primavera schedule (P6)
- Prepare written cover letters, qualifications, bid forms/bid breakdowns, execution plans, subcontractor lists, vendor lists, and other client requested proposal documentation
- Work with administrative assistant or proposal coordinator to compile all required bid submittal information
- Periodically, prepare field change order estimates based on initial Issued for Construction (IFC) and other drawings and/or additions or deletions of work for the project
- Assist in preparing turnover packages and conduct the turn over meetings for projects that are won
Other Requirements
- A minimum of three years experience
- Must have knowledge with estimating civil, concrete work, structural steel and piping work.
- Industrial sector experience required
- Petrochemical experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in excel and Microsoft office required
- Competent in required job skills and knowledge
