Detailed Job Description
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Spirituality & Religious Life, the Jewish Student Life Coordinator will provide leadership and support for RIT's Jewish students by developing programs rooted in Jewish culture and identity. This individual will work within Spirituality & Religious Life, which falls under the Center for Campus Life, utilizing its resources and collegial relationships in campus outreach while benefitting from the support of a Jewish Student Life Advisory Board. This is a ten month, part-time position (up to 20 hours per week) which will include some evening and weekend hours depending on programmatic needs. This is a grant-funded position continuation of the position is subject to yearly reallocation and grant funding availability.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience relevant to this position
Specialized Skills:
- Established record of accomplishment in leadership and community building
- Previous experience supporting Jewish life, expertise in the needs of Jewish students, and knowledge of Jewish resources, organizations, and educational programs for young adults
- Effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences
- Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately
- Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals
- Knowledge of Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to learn
- Pastoral skills and ability to work with students experiencing high stress and/or life crises
- Computer competence using software and enterprise systems appropriate for the complexities of the role and its functions
Preferred:
- 5 years experience working with college students
- Documented experience as an effective advocate who exhibits high ethical standards of conduct and confidentiality in dealing with various internal and external constituencies
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
