Come join Homesite, part of the American Family Enterprise, for our Summer 2021 Intern Program! The Program runs from mid-May through the end of August!Product Owners are part of the Product Team. They collaborate with functional specialists in matrix teams containing visual designers, user experience designers, developers, and quality assurance technicians (IT). Product Owners synthesize business needs with Product Managers on behalf of stakeholders(the business). They are contributors to the product vision and roadmap through their tactical focus in driving an iterative development process.
The Product Owner's most important responsibility is to create shared understanding for Teams. Shared understanding creates respect, builds trust, and facilitates collaboration. Shared understanding is based on three components: Operational Mechanics, Organizational Dynamics, and Measurable Results.
Core responsibilities:
Operational Mechanics:- Preparation - Content authority over the Story Backlog, and the Backlog is the source of truth for the Team. Backlogs must remain organized, relevant, and prioritized in order to facilitate consistent collaboration.
- Presence – Must be present, visible, and accessible. Servant leaders who are dedicated to reducing friction and facilitating collaboration. Care deeply about the 'speed of learning' within Teams.
- Prioritization - Vigilantly maintain prioritization of backlogs. Collaborate to proactively mitigate resource constraints, manage dependencies, and avoid cross-program tradeoffs.
- Self-starters
- Domain Mastery – Command of product performance data which supports knowledge of stakeholder needs and business objectives.
- Influence - Build and preserve relationships.
- Contribution to sales yield and customer retention;
- Release volume and backlog health;
- Innovation and architectural runway.
- Prefer students pursuing a Graduate Degree
- Ability to work well with culturally diverse populations.
- Understanding of business process reengineering and business modeling concepts, business systems development and analysis
- Driven toward results, individually and in a team setting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including facilitation and presentation skills;
- Excellent organization and follow up skills;
- Experience with e-business projects and Property and Casualty Insurance experience desired
