Provide Data Center & Raised Floor IT Operations and Asset Management Support

Participate in the Compute Life Cycle Management for Data Center operations, this role will require skills associated with deployment, retirement, removal and upgrades of Computer hardware consisting of computers, storage devices, network devices and associated peripheral devices.

Perform ad hoc requests as directed by on-site management. Prepare and coordinate and receive incoming shipments. Compare packing lists with purchase details to ensure accurate make, model, and quantities are received. Receipt SRM. Perform remote hands support e.g. power cycles, physical equipment, and cabling inspections, swap out failed components, testing of copper and fiber cables, handle storage media, and enter troubleshooting commands.

Perform hardware installations and decommissions – Rack / Stack. Perform cable installations (routing, terminating) and testing. Perform hardware cabling troubleshooting. Must have a basic understanding of the various operational Acronyms in the Data center environment such as NOC, SOC, WAN, LAN, SAN, POE, FCIP, FCOE.

Support Service Manager processes (e.g. Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, and closing associated tickets. Support Power Maintenance Events (PME) – active involvement in the planning through an assigned role. Track and maintain adequate sparing levels. Perform physical audits and provide that data in writing to ensure this data is updated and accurate. Collaborate and maintain business relationships in order to meet and exceed client expectations with respect to business as usual and project activities.

Must be willing to follow established process for Change Management, Work Order and Problem Investigation tools which will require written follow up as per prevailing standards.

Willingness to communicate via emails, IM Chat and verbally as the situation requires.

Must have a flexible work schedule approach the primary schedule for this role occurs after standard business hours.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Ability to learn new technologies with an interest in expanding and applying this knowledge as new emerge. Able to lift 50 lbs. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office suite, especially Word and Excel. Thorough understanding of cabling best practices (EIA/TIA-568 standards). Thorough understanding of IT hardware skills (HP,Dell, Cisco, etc.). Working knowledge of network cabling diagnostics and testing practices. Good understanding of LAN/WAN/Telephony concepts e.g. TCIP, switches, routers, vLANs. General understanding of the concepts of electrical theory with respect to hardware installations e.g. single phase, 3 phase, amperage, receptacle types.

Good working knowledge of the constraints of a raised floor data center environment.

Desirable candidate mush has a working experience in a Linux/Unix data center environment, any experience using Unix/Linux and some VI editing skills will be a plus.

Willingness to adapt to and adopt a standard operating procedure that is client specific. Willingness to enforce the guidelines established within the Standard Operating procedures internally with the team as well as with others who may be vendor partners in service delivery.

Must be willing to maintain a high level of confidentially about the client and internal operating standards and procedures.

Candidate will be required to undertake standard issued training sessions through the year relative to compliance, CERM (internal risk management standards) as well as desirable training commensurate with role.

Work Schedule

The position typically works during the evening and off business hours. Due to the client line of business. Most Raised floor activities occurs during approved change windows after Market closes and before market opens, a typical shift occurs from, 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM with some flexibility due to change occurrences and occasional weekend work

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and a minimum of two to three years of related experience and/or training.


CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

A+ PC Technician; - Both Network + and Dell Hardware certification is a plus

Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.


FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or allocations.
