IT - Audio Visual Tech/Engineer - AV Tech

Working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, responsibilities of the Audio Video Engineer II include providing on-site and remote support for all of MidMichigan-owned audiovisual and videoconferencing systems, proactively maintaining system hardware and software following established standards and industry best practices to ensure reliability and performance and providing guidance and training on audiovisual and videoconferencing systems to lesser experienced IT professionals, system administrators, and other users throughout the health system. The position shares responsibility for the enterprise-wide management of audiovisual and videoconferencing technologies and their integration with third party applications and services.

Position will be expected to assist with: installing, configuring, and managing hardware and software; working closely with vendors and users to provide applications and services that meet the needs of the organization; assisting in establishing and communicating policies, procedures, and standards for the use-related services; ensuring that business functions are protected from disruption due to failure of audiovisual or videoconferencing hardware or software.

This position will participate in on-call rotation to provide Tier 2 end user support after normal business hours.

(60%)* Resolves user issues, demonstrating a competence in prioritization to meet predefined Service Level Agreements (SLAs), managing time and resources responsibly and in the best interest of the health system. Provides end user assistance remote or “at the elbow”, depending on needs.

(30%)* Proactive maintenance and monitoring, system inventory management, installs, patching, testing, coordination of break/fix efforts with third party vendors.

(10%)* Assist with development of processes and procedures regarding the use and management of Audio Video and Videoconferencing systems

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serving as a technical specialist, assists with the design and development of audio, video and data conferencing solutions using communications elements utilized by MidMichigan Health operations.

Provides forward looking recommendations for institutional planning and budgeting through cost modeling, capacity planning, purchasing and contractor oversight and other services related to planning, procurement and lifecycle management.

Assists with establishing and maintaining MidMichigan audiovisual and conferencing related equipment and quality standards, policies and procedures.

Troubleshoots and resolves operational issues.

Provides training to other MidMichigan staff when projects employ audiovisual or videoconferencing technologies.

Maintains relevant and current knowledge to help MidMichigan be a leader in the fields of audiovisual, videoconferencing and telemedicine and remain well positioned to work with partner healthcare institutions.

Monitors infrastructure, manages tickets, analyzes performance and capacity of systems, communicates and notifies customers of system issues and service restoration, and coordinates the escalation of system/infrastructure failures.

Participates in projects as needed.

Adheres to Change Management standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or other position-related field required. Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience with Microsoft Teams, GotoMeeting, Polycom, Crestron integration is preferred.

Two (2) years of experience in a related field is preferred.

Two (2) or more years of Audiovisual and/or Videoconferencing support experience preferred. Current pertinent industry certification(s) preferred.

Technical expertise in the following areas: audiovisual and videoconferencing systems and components, Microsoft Windows.

Ability to learn independently and communicate effectively, good writing skills and excellent troubleshooting skills are required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
