Our Employment Services Program has an immediate Full-Time opportunity for a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join their team in Mt. Airy. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
This position is an IPS Employment Peer Mentor (EPM). This professional’s life experience with mental illness or substance abuse and behavioral health services provides expertise that professional training cannot replicate. The Employment Peer Mentor is a fully integrated team member who provides highly individualized services in the community and promotes the self-determination and shared decision-making abilities of beneficiaries.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, and consultation to the individual served to promote recovery, self-advocacy, and self-direction.
- Promotes wellness management strategies, which include delivering manualized interventions (e.g., Wellness Recovery Action Planning or Illness Management and Recovery) and employment services.
- Assists people receiving services in developing psychiatric advance directives.
- Models recovery values, attitudes, beliefs, and personal action to encourage wellness and resilience.
- Provides consultation to team members to assist in the understanding of recovery and the role of the Employment Peer Mentor, promoting a culture in which beneficiaries’ points of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into treatment.
- Serves as an active member of the employment team, equivalent to other team members, which includes assisting with the Person-Centered Planning process.
- Supports and empowers the individual to exercise his or her legal rights within the community.
- Provides employment services interventions and case coordination as needed.
- Prepares and submits documentation accurately and within prescribed timelines.
- Participates in peer review.
- Successfully participates in the DMH-approved IPS training and provides services according to the service definition and IPS Fidelity Model.
- Follows all ESUCP Policies and Procedures.
- Must demonstrate Easter Seals valued behaviors of Accountability, Commitment, and Caring as appropriate to the position.
- Completes required training within prescribed timeframes.
- Performs related duties as requested
YOU’RE A GREAT MATCH FOR OUR TEAM IF YOU HAVE:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency required from an approved, accredited institution.
- Must be an NC Certified Peer Support Specialist.
- “Lived experience” and a personal recovery story specific to primary mental illness or substance use disorders.
- Have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully provide TST to adults with mental illness and substance use disorders
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with the Adult Mental Health population.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and assign priorities.
- Must have a clean driving record with valid, unrestricted, state-appropriate driver’s license, and current vehicle insurance.
- Must provide own transportation for use in fulfilling job requirements.
