The department:
The Investments Data Product Owner will be a key member of Invesco’s Investments Data Office as part of Invesco’s Global Investments Transformation Group. The Global Investments Transformation Group are responsible for driving transformation across Investments focused on delivering key strategic initiatives, enabling new capabilities and simplifying our operational environment.
The Investments Data Product Owner will report to the Investments Data Officer and maintain a close relationship with the Enterprise Data Office which is a centralized organization led by Invesco’s Chief Data Officer. The Enterprise Data Office sets global standards, monitors adoption and enables execution of data within the various businesses across Invesco, including Investments. The Investments Data Office mission is to optimize the Investment process by driving improved availability and usage of data as a strategic enabler. We accomplish this by leveraging the capabilities of the EDO, Tech and other domains to design and delive solutions.
Your role:
The Investments Data Product Owner will develop a deep understanding of data utilized for investment purposes to ensure data is used as a strategic enabler in generating alpha, optimizing the Invesco operating platform and driving business results. This data spans the full spectrum of the investment process data, including but not limited to research, asset allocation, security selection, trade implementation and execution, portfolio construction, risk management, performance measurement, portfolio compliance, and portfolio analytics. Innovation is seen as a key alpha generator.
The Investments Data Product Owner will help develop and then deliver on our roadmap for Investments data capabilities, targeting scalability, simplicity, and efficiency while supporting the diverse needs of investment teams and the firm including investment data needs of clients. They will partner with technology teams (Engineering), enterprise data architecture & governance, business data owners, and data stewards to ensure data is structured and curated to leverage across the enterprise.
The Investments Data Product Owner:
- Be an evangelist for Invesco’s data transformation and promote a data-centric culture
- Must be comfortable working in an agile development environment
- Have an ability to handle multiple requests from varied stakeholders, in a way that maintains clear priority, and ability to adjust when needed
- Be an effective “translator” of business needs into technical requirements
- Have an inquisitive and innovative mindset with a demonstrated ability to recognize opportunities to create distinctive value
- Demonstrate an ability to build relationships, collaborate, mentor, motivate, and influence internal and external teams
- Be able to work independently when needed, take initiative, and get projects completed with great attention to detail and on time
You will be responsible for:
- Work with the Investments Data Officer to design and build a team responsible for investment data quality and governance
- Being a primary point of contact between Investment teams and the IDO
- Serve as Data Product Owner for Invesco’s Product Master and the strategic development of the capability
- Partner with other Data Product Owners and the Enterprise Data Office to proactively account for data interdependencies across the Invesco ecosystem, working within an interoperable data environment
- Drives, either through direct or primarily matrixed reporting lines, data governance and data quality execution and standards adoption through partnership with data stewards, data owners, data analysis and Data Execution Groups both within and external to the Investment Data team
- Responsible for the execution of data initiatives in their domain (or platform) such as future strategy and prioritization of data requirements for consumers across Invesco
- Serve as Data Owner for Investment Data Sub Domains as required
- Serves as liaison & coordinator between capability platforms and technology to ensure integration and enhancements are prioritized and executed in accordance with data strategy and roadmaps across a set of domain programs.
- Partner with Investment teams to understand business requirements and extract synergies from existing and new sources of data (internal and external, structured and unstructured) and supporting technologies to derive business insights
- Member of Investments Data Domain Governance Board
The experience you bring:
- BA/BS in relevant field with 5+ years of experience; Advanced degrees (MS/MBA) preferred
- Technical and business background with experience in investments data; specifically asset management and/or financial services industry data is a plus
- Knowledge of data, analysis and processes related to various asset classes and products
- Experience with delivering Product Master capability in an investment management environment
- Experience with utilizing Agile framework for project delivery
- Experience communicating the value of data as a foundation for capability enablement in a low data maturity environment & evidence of having done this successfully in the past
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues across all levels of the organization by leading through influence
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
- Distinctive written and verbal communication skills to lead engagements with various Investments and technology leaders. Able to communicate technically complex topics to non-subject matter expert audiences.
- Solid business acumen including ability to think strategically and exhibit sound business judgement.

Working Conditions: NOTE: only required in North America
- Normally works a regular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending upon assignment.
- Domestic and International travel may be required, frequency to be determined through discussion with direct manager
