Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: Bartell Drugs, your neighborhood drug store since 1890, is looking for a high energy, dependable, hard working IC - Inventory Control Coordinator (Slotter) for our Distribution Center. Our Distribution Center is located in Des Moines. Regular attendance and punctuality is expected. Your schedule is Monday - Friday and the shift is 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. There is room for advancement at the Distribution Center as well as the Company at large!
Job Summary: The Inventory Control Coordinator is an integral position within the Distribution Center (DC) operation. They must assure the assignment and accuracy of perpetual inventory storage at the DC from the time products enter the DC (receiving) to when they are shipped out to the store using our WMS (Manhattan). The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Bartell Drugs / Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.

Job Summary: The Inventory Control Coordinator is an integral position within the Distribution Center (DC) operation. They must assure the assignment and accuracy of perpetual inventory storage at the DC from the time products enter the DC (receiving) to when they are shipped out to the store using our WMS (Manhattan). The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Bartell Drugs / Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain the accuracy of the perpetual inventory at the DC from the time the product enters the DC (receiving), it is put away, stocked, replenished and ultimately shipped to the store accurately.
- Perform inventory adjustment research, cycle counts - W2W (SOX), daily requested counts, (trigger / markouts, omits, abandons), reserve verifications, MD releases, MD slotting, new item slotting/allocation, re-slotting, IR recalls, and vendor defects/returns. Monitor the velocity of the items (based on velocity analysis) and determine where and how they should be slotted for the most effective and accurate pick.
- General warehouse inventory slotting duties. Determining and slotting cases in warehouse and clerical functions.
- Maintaining electronic records (use of a computer).
- Lifting to up to 50 lbs. is possible but rare.
- Familiarity with warehousing and safety requirements is required.
- Assign and maintain the accuracy of the perpetual inventory storage at the DC by updating storage locations for all incoming inventory.
- Conduct Inventory Adjustment Research (Root Cause Analysis of all high dollar variances, top Omits etc.) the Research Analyst reconciles and research root cause of cycle count differences as well as any high dollar inventory adjustment.
- Be a team player with a positive can-do attitude.

- Make visual comparisons and see slight differences in shapes and sizes of figures, widths and lengths of lines
- Move hands, fingers and eyes rapidly and accurately in making precise movements with speed
- Extend hands, arms in all directions; seizing, holding, grasping, picking merchandise mainly with the use of fingers
- Move fingers and manipulate small, medium and larger items rapidly and accurately
- Must be able to squat, kneel and bend below the waist-level to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to chest
- Frequently obtain merchandise from below waist-level and raise it to above the head
- Use electronic hand-held devices for order fulfillment
- Work in a safe and efficient manner
- High School Diploma (HSD) or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Must be able to read alpha and numeric codes from pick sheets and slots
- Two to three years of clerical or other warehouse experience required, preferably in a warehouse or office/distribution environment
- Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience preferred
- Strong math skills and competencies required
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Creates detail-oriented work
- Demonstrates multi-tasking in performing of all job duties
- A minimum of two (2) years of clerical or other warehouse experience is required

- Six (6) or more months experience working in supply chain, transportation, and/or logistics function in an administrative capacity
