SUMMARY
As an Assistant Controller of Inventory you will be responsible for the accurate inventory of all incoming and outgoing products and supplies, planning purchasing and procurement to maximize efficiencies and incorporate best supply chain practices to minimize inventory loss. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining costing and materials in the master data section of Oracle and assisting the Supply Chain Manager with maintaining the financial integrity of all financial statements for ICON’s supply chain finance division.
This role also manages the warehouse inventory team, monitoring and modifying priorities of receiving, replenishing and shipping product to achieve on time shipments, as well as cycle counting, adjustment investigation, ship accuracy and error tracking.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct and manage cycle count process per scheduled cycle including financial approval and systems adjustment and reconciliation when appropriate.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action on inventory discrepancies/ variances (i.e. cycle count).
• Define and manage inventory metrics including cycle count accuracy (physical & financial), adjustment metrics and reasons, inventory improvement projects, etc.
• Manage and support third party warehouse operations, including auditing of data/ processes.
• Review and analyze cost components and financial reporting information to ensure that the costs capitalized into inventory are appropriate based on GAAP and internal company requirements.
• Coordinate with IT, sales planning, and other departments. Ensure accuracy of large and complex data sets. Provide reports of financial data to various departments.
• Identify continuous process improvements in inventory management/ warehouse processes.
• Provide direction to direct reports using established policies and precedents and leads process improvement activities when identified.
• Ensure that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures and schedules.
• Review monthly financial statements and analyze differences from budget. Communicate results to Supply Chain Controller.
• Participate in annual financial statement budgeting process.
• Prepare and/ or approve adjusting journal entries and GL account reconciliations.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in supply chain/ logistics, inventory control or material planning within a manufacturing or distribution facility.
• Minimum of 5+ years’ accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. Oracle and cost accounting are preferred.
• Experience directing and managing cycle count processes.
• Strong supply chain knowledge from multiple roles and perspectives.
• Super user of ERP systems (Oracle preferred, not required), highly proficient in using MS Excel.
• Experience in cost accounting and inventory management.
• Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
• Detailed, analytical, and thorough, but also able to meet deadlines. A team player who can work. individually on assignments and also as a key member of a team.
