Job Description
The Position
Start Date: June 8, 2021 ( Summer 2021)
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Length of Assignment: 3 Months
Education Level: Master's, PhD, PharmD
Preferred Majors/Disciplines: Public Health, Outcomes Research, Psychology, Health Economics
Given the current uncertainty of the global pandemic and work from home situation for 2021, this internship is currently planned to be virtual with the option for interns to work remotely from within the U.S. Borders. We will keep candidates informed if this changes.
The Patient Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) vision is: To provide evidence that improves lives through patient-focused outcomes. We achieve this by developing measurement strategies that integrate the patient perspective into drug development.
Through the collection of clinical outcomes assessments (COAs) such as patient reported outcome (PRO), clinician-reported outcomes (ClinRO), observer-reported outcome (ObsRO), and performance outcome (PerfO) measures, we work to capture the patient experience while to better understand patients’ perspective of treatment and disease burden.
The patient viewpoint is increasingly important in drug approval and reimbursement decisions as health authorities, payers, patients, caregivers and
healthcare providers seek additional evidence of treatment benefit.
Job Description/Responsibilities
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic interns to join the PCOR team for a summer internship. Under the supervision of your PCOR mentor, you will support research efforts to help bring new medicines to patients. The therapeutic areas the PCOR team covers include oncology, immunology, infectious disease, ophthalmology, neuroscience and rare disease.
Day to day work may include activities such as:

In PCOR we partner cross-functionally with other departments such as regulatory, market access, health economics, biostatistics, clinical data management, clinical science, and clinical operations. You will have the opportunity to see first-hand how these diverse functions come together in a collaborative team environment to solve complex problems. You will develop the project management and technical skills necessary to support the PCOR team and will have the opportunity to put these skills into practice.
Requirements/Qualifications
Student seeking a graduate degree (e.g. Masters, Doctorate, or equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, psychology, pharmacy, or similar degree with interest in patient research and research methods
Ability to work independently on delegated tasks, and in partnership with PCOR staff at team meetings, on key projects, and as part of brainstorming sessions

Strong written communication and presentation skills, solid interpersonal skills
Demonstrated project management skills, leadership skills, interest and hunger to learn new things. A person that takes initiative, welcomes problems as challenges; finds solutions to technical problems; and that can identify and raise challenges
