Nordson MEDICAL designs, engineers and manufactures complex devices and components with applications in wound healing, surgical and minimally invasive, fluid management, pulmonology and interventional and structural heart. Our pioneering Advanced Polymers team was the first to manufacture and supply medical balloons to the medical device industry. Nordson MEDICAL works with doctors, start-ups and large medical companies around the world at any point in the product lifecycle, from concept to launch and beyond.
Nordson’s Internship Program provides students the opportunity to apply university learnings to assignments and projects impacting business and operational performance. Over the course of the summer, our interns get to know Nordson through exposure to our business leaders and operational excellence program, and by participating in activities that give back to our local communities.
Our summer Intern session runs from May to August of 2021.
Nordson MEDICAL – Salem designs, engineers and manufactures components and devices with application in surgical / minimally invasive, interventional/structural heart, and pulmonology, among others. Our team manufactures precision extrusion, balloons, heat shrink tubing and sub-assemblies for the medical device industry.
Nordson MEDICAL’s Salem NH Internship Program is designed to provide high performing individuals with a meaningful experience within the Medical Component Industry relative to process & product engineering of extrusion and/or balloons and/or sub-assemblies. Interns gain valuable engineering and manufacturing experience through focused projects to advance business and operational performance.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate works under the direction of an experienced process and product engineer. The intern will focus on manufacturing or optimization of extrusion and/or balloon processing and/or sub-assembly processes. The Intern works under the direction of an experienced engineer and will be responsible for project-based gathering information for sample production runs, data analysis, complaint investigation, product testing, engineering change control, and/or drawing/modeling support. The intern may participate in setting up or running equipment for new or existing products to advance polymer processing understanding.
The intern will be accountable for presenting learning and performance improvements by the conclusion of the program.
Other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
Rising Junior or Senior College / University enrolled or recently graduated high performing individuals. Majors considered: Polymer/Plastics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering/Statistics.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience with polymer processing is desirable
- Statistical & Tolerance Analysis
- Basic computer, data retrieval and data analysis skills
- Attention to detail, willingness to learn and contribute, project management, results oriented
- Compliance with all Quality System and safety requirements
