Intern - Electrical Maintenance

U. S. Steel's Minnesota Ore Operations includes two open pit mines and processing facilities in Northern MN (Minntac in Mt. Iron and Keetac in Keewatin) and has the following temporary, full-time vacancy for the summer of 2021.

Intern - Electrical Maintenance: The successful candidate will work closely with Electrical Maintenance Supervisors and will be assigned a variety of projects including, but not limited to, developing improved predictive and preventative maintenance procedures for high voltage equipment across the Minntac facility. This project will include creating a preventative maintenance schedule that encompasses all main switchyards within the facility. In addition, this position will be responsible to carry out and conduct activities in compliance with the U. S. Steel Safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the assigned facility.

The position requires the candidate to be currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and have completed, or be working towards completion, of their sophomore year and be in good academic standing. The successful candidate will also exhibit excellent communications, planning, and organizational skills and be proficient using Microsoft Office and other web-based applications.

All successful candidates are subject to background checks, pre-employment physical examinations, and drug and alcohol screening.

Requirements:

• Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree.
• Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2021 and be in good academic standing.
• Must have at least a 2.75 GPA, will accept 2.5 with experience.
• Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
