Responsible for developing and maintaining system integrations and components, including but not limited to; application to application integrations, services, internal and external API, file transfer, and SQL queries. The Integration Specialist is fully responsible for participating in requirements analysis, design, development, internal testing, and the documentation of same for the application-application integrations. As a member of the Spelman Technology Services (STS) division this position strives to ensure consistency in its communication, actions, its strategic focus and digitalization and innovation. This position is also responsible for supporting the mission of Spelman College by delivering technology, services, solutions and guidance to Spelman faculty, staff, students and the community in a professional, exemplary, service oriented collaborative manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develops and maintains services used in application integrations in an Oracle database environment
- Designs integration solutions and documents the design in accordance with best practices.
- Works with development teams and application vendors to architect, design, build, and implement application integrations.
- Develops and maintains data integration components such as SQL queries, stored procedures, data extraction and cleansing, and integration with system front end components.
- Administration of the Ellucian Ethos Integration environment
- Writes PL-SQL code to retrieve appropriate data as derived from requirements.
- Builds reports and/or data extracts to support business analysis.
- Coordinates directly with business users and business analyst to best understand and analyze business specifications.
- Provides technical assistance to troubleshoot and resolve integration errors.
- Verifies business systems solutions by creating test plans and scripts; conducting unit and integration testing in conjunction with customers using QA processes.
- Maintains delivered solutions by supporting configuration for existing applications; implementing improvements.
- Maintains business systems standards by applying project management methods, tools and processes as best practice frameworks.
- Participates in system patches and upgrades, and other support activities as needed.
- Determines appropriate work methods, plans, schedules, and prioritizes work based on goals and objectives to be achieved, within standards of the department; carries out work activities independently.
- Contributes to the department’s success by responding to requests; helping others accomplish job results.
- Consults with senior management to resolve problems or to provide general direction.
- Interacts and collaborates with faculty, staff, and students, developers, analyst, consultants in the execution of various duties.
- Helps others in clarifying somewhat complex problems; adapts or modifies established approaches.
- Identifies and selects appropriate tools, data, and analysis techniques to diagnose problems and develop solutions.
- May participate in the development of improvements and help implement change.
- Actively seeks help in gathering resources, solicits input, and uses a variety of techniques to reach a solution.
- May lead groups through process of problem solving, soliciting ideas and opinions to form recommendations or action plans.
- Conveys technical or complex information to others in non-technical terms.
- Identifies issues that may arise, formulates recommendations and solves moderately complex and difficult problems.
- Establishes and leads project timelines or short-term goals.
- Available for on-call and/or emergency response and support as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of development experience required.
- Demonstrated strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to follow procedures and resolve exceptions.
- Demonstrated ability to design and document software solutions.
- Prior experience working with ERP or Supply Chain solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in XML, and experience with PHP, Python or related language.
- In depth knowledge of PL-SQL.
- Familiarity with database tools such as Toad or SQL Developer; Integration Architecture, and best practices.
- Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools such as Tableau, Argos, Cognos and full implementation of enterprise reporting applications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related major preferred.
Ellucian Banner is a plus
Certifications, Licenses, Restrictions- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), preferred
- Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional, preferred
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: talk, walk, hear, sit, use hands to operate computer/office equipment and to move items. The employee is occasionally required to: stand, reach with hands and arms, and lift and/or move items weighing up to 15 pound.
