Department Overview: OHSU's Neonatal Care team is a multi-specialty team which includes board-certified neonatologists and other specially-trained doctors in every medical and surgical specialty, physician assistants, staff nurses, neonatal nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, clinical staff, charge nurses, respiratory care practitioners, social workers, dietitians, case managers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and lactation specialists.

There will be some additional expectation of coverage at OHSU’s Doernbecher Neonatal Care Center. This position works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to neonatology patients.
As an OHSU faculty member this person would be required to participate in faculty meetings at the division and department level. All pediatric faculty members are expected to aid the division head and department chair in providing direction to the division and the department both on a day to day basis and as part of ongoing strategic planning and strategic planning.
OHSU faculty members are expected to have some scholarly activity. This may be limited to educating learners as outlined below, but may also include research, and other grant supported work or academic papers and presentations in disciplines related to their field of expertise. Faculty members are often called upon to partner with other providers and members of the department or division research support staff in research activity. Faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.
This position provides clinical education to fellows, residents, medical students, and nurse practitioner students participating in newborn care rotations. As part of the multidisciplinary team charged with educating learners in the neonatology environment, this person would be expected to provide feedback and evaluation, both formally and informally, of learners working in neonatology.
Faculty members may be called upon to serve on OHSU committees and in other activities as directed by the department chair or division head in furtherance of division, department, or OHSU goals and objectives.Required Qualifications:
  • Appointee must be board-certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with appropriate training and experience to care for infants in a level III and/or level IV NICU.
  • Must be eligible for, or currently have Washington and Oregon nursing/medical licenses.
