Instructional Coach (Part-Time, Temp)

The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Instructional Coach (Part-Time, Temp).
Applications will be accepted until 8/19/2021.
The Instructional Coach will work as part of the TutorND tutor corps to deliver and supervise free, evidence-based learning and enrichment programs to children in the Notre Dame family (broadly defined to include children of ND employees, children in the local South Bend community, and children across the country in the classrooms of ACE Teaching Fellows). The TutorND registration prioritizes children who do not have access to high quality tutoring and intervention programs, so the instructional coach will be part of a team helping to close opportunity gaps for children in our country. The instructional coach will supervise, coach, and support a group of tutoring assistants and will provide support and coaching as needed for tutoring specialists. Individuals in this position will be matched with a small group of tutoring assistants to supervise and will be expected to provide assistants with guidance and support over the fall session. Instructional coaches will help the assistants and tutoring specialists with progress reports and will be leaders in a robust, collaborative learning community for tutors, paraprofessionals, and other educators working in the community. To stay informed of the practical demands of tutoring, they also will work at least 2 hours per week at local schools and/or via Zoom in one-on-one or small groups with children in grades 1-9 on structured math and/or literacy programs. They also will receive training on working safely with children and will need to pass training and necessary background checks before being approved to work with the children.
This is a temporary, part-time seasonal position during the fall semester, with the possibility of renewal for the spring semester.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required; prior experience working with children in a teaching, tutoring, or learning setting required; prior experience supervising others preferred; must be comfortable with technology; tutors who tutor remotely must own a computer or laptop that can be used for Zoom sessions and have a space appropriate to conduct remote Zoom sessions with children; tutors who tutor in person must be able to travel to local schools in the South Bend community. Instructional coaches must commit to working at least 10 hours per week during the fall semester.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in education or related field.
