Position Summary:The quality control inspector performs inspection of parts, assemblies, products and/or materials for quality, defects, appearance, finishes, variance, and operation through specification or by visual comparison methods. Identifies and resolves issues regarding fit and function of assemblies. This position reports to the Quality Supervisor.
To be successful in this position:
  • Experience with reading and understanding engineering drawings, models, work instructions and specifications
  • Ability to apply concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, algebra
  • Understand and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Can verify component conformance using precision gauges, micrometers and other measuring instruments
  • Assemble parts when required and does inspection of completed assemblies.
  • Fill out inspection sheets and ready approved parts for assembly
  • Be organized, systematic and detail oriented
  • Have good problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Be collaborative and team oriented
Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical school and/or minimum 3 years’ experience and/or training
    • Training in quality disciplines and metrology is preferred
  • Combination of education and experience considered
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with precision measuring devices
    • Includes:
      • Gage blocks
      • Height gages
      • Dial indicators
      • Bore gages
Computer Skills:
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Outlook
  • SAP a plus

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employees are required to use proper lift assistance for any objects over 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
