SummaryThe Inserter Operator I is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment used to fold, match, and insert multiple pieces of printed material into envelopes.
Duties and Responsibilities- Set up inserting equipment at the beginning of each job according to the specifications provided on the job ticket
- Insert address tags into mail sacks, or mail trays used for bulk mailing of ID cards, kits, and catalogs
- Maintain equipment, troubleshoot problems, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed
- Keep work area in order and follow prescribed safety regulations
- Able to read postal statements and sort mail accordingly
- Make adjustments as required to return output to the proper specifications
- Direct and supervise the work of helpers on the machine
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department manager
- Communicates status of jobs to department manager
- Follow standard operating procedures according to the department’s guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
- A minimum of two years; experience in printing or mail inserting environment (operating either Pitney Bowes, Kern or Bell and Howell Inserters is a plus)
- High school graduate, or completion of GED preferred
- Perform all work and activities with honesty and integrity
- Take personal responsibility for productivity, quality and timeliness of work
- Effectively communicate (and listen) clearly, professionally, politely and persuasively in all situations; respond well and in a reasonable, timely manner

Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for the majority of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb. In addition, requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
