Position Description:
This position is responsible for color matching, formulating, and creating digital standards as required using x-Rite formulation and QC software. The Ink Technician ensures spot colors are dispensed, press ready and qualified adhering to provided standards prior to going on press. The Tech will monitor production schedules and have ink press ready for the remainder of their shift, the following shift and halfway into the shift after. They will monitor and manage ink inventory levels for all spot colors and inform the Inventory Specialist of any ink orders that are needed. Ink technician is responsible to measure, qualify and manage all anilox rollers using 3D Micro dynamics scope prior to being put back into inventory for press use.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Dispense and blend all spot colors, bring to viscosity, pull a drawdown and qualify using color software
· Add formulas into the ink dispenser and smart sheet for all new colors
· Monitors and organize ink inventory on press and discuss with Inventory Specialist any orders needed for upcoming games.
· Work off and maintain any leftover inks that came off of the dispenser.
· Measure and audit all anilox sleeves and rollers ensuring they are clean and ready for press
· Working with Supervisor with Inventory control of all anilox sleeves and rollers, shipping out any bad rollers to be refurbished
· Performs all preventative maintenance on the Ink Dispenser, and mixing equipment
· Operate ,maintain and clean dispenser and cleaning equipment
· Keep area clean and organized in a tour ready state
· Performs work in accordance with all Safety rules, safe work practices and applicable regulations reports unsafe work practices and conditions
· Complete work orders in a timely fashion
· Crosstrain in areas as assigned and Assist in other duties as assigned
Education:
· High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
· Minimum 5 years of printing experience, including experience with mixing ink and adjusting color
· Demonstrated ability to see color and able to differentiate between colors to ensure and maintain quality and customer standards.
· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and work on a team
· Demonstrated ability to work with numbers using percentages to perform calculations when needed to modify formulas
· Strong Knowledge in MS Word, Excel and Dispensing Software and an understanding of Color Match Software
· Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems
- Ability to work for sustained periods of time, walking and standing and lifting up to 40 lbs. repetitively pushing or pulling up to 60 lbs.
· Understanding of and consistent adherence to Health & Safety , Quality and Security standards

Additional Qualifications Required:
- Good knowledge of color theory and successfully pass a color test
- Successfully pass a formula modification test.
- Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and produce accurate work
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain productivity to meet production deadlines
- Ability to work without direction from your Supervisor, motivated, has initiative and is a self-starter
