JOB DESCRIPTION

Injection Molding Crew Leader

JOB SUMMARY

This production floor position is responsible for leading the daily shift operations of the production team within the facility. Prioritizes production based on schedule, monitors and reports production data, controls the molding process to ensure process continuity, production rate, and acceptable scrap. Leads the activities of other employees through technical knowledge and sound decision-making abilities to support product quality and ensure customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads day-to-day activities and communications of departmental production team.
  • Provides timely and complete communication to cross-functional teams regarding quality or operational issues.
  • Records downtime, production rates, scrap rates, lot and job numbers, and documents information in Syteline.
  • Maintains job cards (machine setup sheets), documenting any changes and routing these changes through the Production Manager and/or engineering for review.
  • Manages order status and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Manages machine operation and makes/documents process adjustments as need
  • Manages employee absences and employee performance.
  • Trains and develops departmental team on machine operation, preventative maintenance, and leads employees in Continuous Improvement Programs.
  • Ensures operators are monitoring and maintaining proper machine operations (cycle rate, scrap, etc.), clearing jams and faults in a safe manner.
  • Supports machine set-ups and changeovers and performs basic machine troubleshooting.
  • Assist with packing and other WC activities as required to meet shift objectives
  • Ensures machine area(s) are clean throughout the shift and prepared for subsequent shift.
  • Records down time, maintains production records, and other data entry as needed.
  • Makes minor adjustments to machines to maintain quality standards.
  • Partners with department leaders on projects and deliverables
  • Consistently meets production and quality standards and works with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) in mind.
  • Other duties as assigned to support production needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year prior leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • 3-5 years demonstrated plastic processing and troubleshooting experience. Familiarity with advanced molding concepts including decouple II molding a plus.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Can work successfully in a team environment and is able to both lead and take direction from others
  • Ability to function under pressure without panic.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Computer proficient-Microsoft Windows based computer operation.
  • Understanding of quality control concepts and processes within a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to differentiate varying shades of colors,
  • Must be able to work overtime or alternate schedules as needed, sometimes on short notice or on weekends.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, standing or walking most of the shift.
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Plastics Injection Molding: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Leadership: 1 year (Preferred)

Typical start time:

  • 9PM

Typical end time:

  • 6AM
